From a graphic designers point of view, this site is a real gateway into finding new clients and possibly long term contracts
as well as repeat design work. Retailers and their suppliers visit this site and use the POS system incredibly frequently, in
some cases several times a week. If this site were to host your own design work in the form of point-of-sale material then you
would very quickly gain a reputation for your own particular style of design.
Every time your designs are selected, the retailer or supplier would be reminded about you, your contact details, your services
and your links to your other work. On top of this, every time anyone logs into the system a unique ‘Designer Spotlight’ will
promote different designers at random provided that they have at least one design published.
Many of the stores that use this system want to be different to the store down the road and would be encouraged to make
direct contact with a designer to commission their own privately designed POS that can then be placed within their own
private POS folder. This is why it’s so important to impress the users with your uploaded styles in order to then be
commissioned by them for other work.
The POS system is quite a complex piece of software that performs all sorts of text squashing, shrinking and scaling, but this
has been simplified so that it doesn’t get in the way of your design. In order for you to upload your own designs you would
follow these simple steps,
Decide what type of POS you’re going to design. Designs may include any, or all of the following,
Supplier pre-designed POS
A popular choice would be for a themed set of, Price tickets, Hanging banners & a blank ad to be used purely for artwork in
local newspapers where the detail is passed to the newspaper press room separately. The set could then all carry the same
theme, ‘Autumn Offers’, ‘Bank Holiday Sale’ etc.
In order for your design to become editable POS it needs to be created in two parts. A background image in any of the
acceptable formats that will include all of the hard-coded text and graphics that are not intended to be editable. You are
totally free to use any fonts, graphics & colours etc.
The second part is an identical image but with text placed where you want an editable field to be. e.g.
‘Description of item here’ ‘Usual price’ ‘Sale price’. You would then upload your two images and they would be considered
for inclusion within theposroom library. If accepted, they will be coded for you where text fields will be manually programmed
into your design using the second image as a visual guide for placing the fields and selecting the right font & colours etc.
You must only use standard browser fonts for editable text. Text that is to become editable can be artistically stretched
vertically or horizontally or rotated but the text must not be skewed or letter spacing changed. If the text within your design is not
to be editable, then it can be any font and manipulated however you wish, this will simply become part of the background image.
Current POS sizes include,
A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 Quarter-A4. All sizes can be either landscape or portrait. Other sizes would be considered upon request.
You should always design to the largest size intended for print by setting your own desktop publishing software to that page
size and ensuring that any images used are of sufficient quality to print in that size.
Acceptable formats include, jpg, gif, png, tif and possibly others.
You will be offered full support every step of the way. You can simply email any questions or problems directly through to
support. You are not charged for any work carried out on your designs, or charged for anything else for that matter. Before
uploading you would need to read through the terms and conditions of supplying & uploading designs & agree to how they
would be used within the system.
Once a single design has been accepted from you, you would receive an email inviting you to share all of your contact detail,
links to other work & other information that we can use to promote you to the system users, retailers & suppliers.
We look forward to receiving your designs,
